Illinois Professional Golfers' AssociationAthletiCo is the official provider of rehabilitation, fitness, and performance for the Illinois Professional Golfers’ Association (IPGA) and the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA).  Comprised of more than 800 PGA members and apprentices working at more than 325 facilities, the IPGA supports the mission of the PGA in the state of Illinois.  Working to promote interest in the game of golf and elevate the vocation of golf professionals, the IPGA conducts approximately 50 events annually, including its largest event, the Illinois Open Championship.

The CDGA, with 90,000 member golfers at nearly 400 clubs, is one of the largest golf associations in the United States.  Founded in 1914, this non-profit association was established to promote amateur golf in the Midwest and currently serves individuals and clubs in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

AthletiCo provides a variety of services for both the IPGA and CDGA, including complimentary injury screens, pre-round manual and dynamic stretching, strengthening and conditioning programs, and educational opportunities to assist in maintaining the health and well-being of the golfers.  These services are provided at all IPGA Majors and other tournaments throughout the Chicagoland area, as well as at various CDGA tournaments throughout the golf season.

To assist golfers of all skill levels, AthletiCo created the Golf Performance Center in 2004.  Led by Tom Asuma, the GPC is a year-round training facility that features 3D technology, golf fitness equipment, and lessons from our golf experts.  Asuma is a Certified Athletic Trainer and TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor who provides golf-specific evaluations and training programs in addition to general personal training and sport performance enhancement services.  “The IPGA and CDGA are the life-blood of the GPC membership and those that utilize our services,” says Asuma.  “The IPGA Professionals are similar to the doctors on the therapy side of AthletiCo.  They have the ability to refer their students to our facility, many of which are CDGA members, to address the physical needs of their golf game.”

Asuma has established positive relationships with many of the IPGA members through his work at the GPC.  Many of these members refer students to him on a regular basis and trust him with their own off-season training programs.  “Both organizations, their staff, and their members are great proponents of the Golf Performance Center and I look forward to a continued relationship with each.”
