AthletiCo Physical Therapy Partners With Arthritis Foundation
Arthritis is one of the most prevalent chronic health problems and the nation’s leading cause of disability among Americans over age 15. This is just one reason why AthletiCo, an Illinois-based leader in rehabilitation, fitness, and performance services, recently partnered with the Arthritis Foundation to provide community outreach and education on the benefits of physical and occupational therapy and preventative fitness solutions for those suffering from arthritis.
Arthritis limits everyday activities such as walking, dressing, and bathing, and many individuals with arthritis don’t think anything can be done to help them. AthletiCo has physical and occupational therapists who specialize in the treatment and management of arthritis and work with individuals to improve their quality of life with education, therapy, and exercise.
“AthletiCo has worked with the Arthritis Foundation for the past four years,” says Grant Koster, PT, ATC, and one of AthletiCo’s Regional Managers. “By partnering with this organization, we have committed to educating the community about two important components of managing arthritis—physical rehabilitation and exercise.”
Through the partnership, AthletiCo will be hosting Exercise & Arthritis Forums, Public Education Seminars, and LifeStyle Programs to educate individuals with arthritis on how therapy and exercise can help improve joint mobility, maintain muscle strength and aerobic conditioning, and alleviate symptoms. These educational opportunities will also teach individuals how proper assistive devices can help manage arthritic symptoms.
In addition, AthletiCo will sponsor several Chicagoland events throughout 2009 including the Steve Cochran and Friends Celebrity Golf event, the Arthritis Foundation Black Tie Gala, Let’s Move Together Arthritis Walks, and the Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run. Support includes monetary donations, pre- and post-race stretching, and massage therapists on site.
