Athletico Supports Northern Illinois Food Bank with Volunteer Service Day
On Saturday, July 14, over 150 Athletico employees and their families supported the work of the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) by donating their time to volunteer at both the West Suburban Center in Geneva and North Suburban Center in Park City.
“This is the third year Athletico has organized a volunteer service day for our employees,” says Mark Kaufman, Athletico’s president and founder. “The past two years involved school beautification projects, and this year we decided to focus our efforts on supporting the Northern Illinois Food Bank. This is a great opportunity for our employees to get together as a team and support our communities.”
The food bank serves 13 counties in Northern Illinois. Volunteers worked in the warehouse on a variety of projects, including sorting, evaluating, cleaning, and packaging donated food and non-food product prior to distribution.
In addition to the service day, Athletico employees hosted a jean day fundraiser on Friday, July 13 to raise money for the food bank. Each dollar raised will provide 6 meals for those the NIFB serves. Those participating in the volunteer day were encouraged to bring a donation of peanut butter with them, an item the organization always needs, on the day of the event. Athletico also made a corporate donation to the NIFB, which will allow for over 60,000 meals to be distributed to those in need.
