What Workout Is Right For You?

You can choose to go down many different paths within the fitness realm. Even if you are well-versed, switching up your workout routine can provide great health benefits and keep physical activity engaging if you are tired of the same old routine. The plethora of choices can be overwhelming, but this quiz is a helpful tool to determine which type of exercise you should try out for yourself.

1. Which of the following options do you enjoy most?

a. Consistent Routine
b. Variety
c. Outdoor activity

2. Which of the following options best describes your fitness goals?

a. Improve appearance
b. Become more athletic
c. Improve overall health

3. Which of the following options best describes your personality?

a. I like to be alone, but I also like to be around others
b. I enjoy group settings, and it recharges me
c. I don’t mind being alone; in fact, I prefer it

4. Which of the following options best describes you?

a. I am analytical and need to track everything I do
b. I like to have a set idea, but I’m fine with veering off-path
c. Give me a set amount of time, and let me do my thing

  • If you answered mostly (a), you may benefit from getting into resistance training or bodybuilding for your new workout routine. You like consistency, and you push yourself hard. You enjoy training alone, but wouldn’t mind having a training partner with the same goals.
  • If you answered mostly (b), you may benefit from attending a CrossFit program or a similar group fitness class. You view variety as the spice of life and live your life to the extreme. You’re extroverted and love the feeling you get from belonging to a community.
  • If you answered mostly (c), you may benefit from getting into cardio training. You enjoy longer bouts of activity where you can just be alone with your thoughts. You enjoy being active outdoors, allowing you to participate in a new activity.
  • If you had a solid mix of answers, you might benefit from trying out a little bit of everything to see what suits you best, as all of them will likely benefit you. You could even mix and match your training, dedicating a specific day to one of the exercise types.
