Tips For Self-Care On The Go

by Athletico1 Comment

As another school year approaches, fall sports and festivities begin, and with the holidays around the corner, taking time for yourself can be a bit of a challenge. Even with our busy schedules, taking care of oneself is very important! When we say, “self-care,” we mean taking time to do things that help promote physical and mental wellness. As this time of the year becomes busier, here are some quick tips to stay healthy, even when you’re on the go and crunched for time!

Tip #1: Make A Goal

Clearly define your health and wellness goals during this time of the year. This will make it easier to say “yes” or “no” to tasks and activities that may not help you reach your goal. Reflect on your day and acknowledge what you completed toward your health goal.

Tip #2: Try Relaxation And Deep Breathing Techniques

Take 10 minutes a day dedicated to relaxing. This means stepping away from screens, duties, and tasks and completing a relaxing activity. Deep breathing, mindfulness, and meditation help promote relaxation. There are lots of free resources including apps to help with relaxation strategies.

Tip #3: Include Movement Throughout Your Day

Regular movement can help improve stress, anxiety, and pain. Small bouts of movement add up, so stop what you are doing and schedule time for physical activity, like taking a quick 10-minute walk throughout your day.

Tip #4: Prioritize A Healthy Diet

Eating healthy meals can help you maintain energy and focus throughout the day. Making a plan to eat healthy meals regularly helps you reach your goal.

Tip #5: Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of liquids to stay hydrated. Limit or avoid caffeine and alcohol to maximize your hydration and health.

Tip #6: Practice Gratitude

Write down something you are grateful for every day. The more specific, the better, and then read your list daily.
