Who is at Risk for Jumper’s Knee?

Sports that involve high levels of running and jumping can leave athletes at increased risk for certain injuries. Basketball is an example of a sport that can predispose athletes to knee pain. Several studies have shown that the knee is the most common site of injury reported in adolescent basketball players, both male and female.1,2

Importance of Lower Extremity Strengthening for Overhead Athletes

Overhead athletes play a variety of sports, including baseball, lacrosse, football, volleyball and even tennis. These athletes require power and strength in their dominant extremity for overhead positions. However, it is important to also consider the lower extremities of these athletes in a strengthening program.

US Soccer: U-17 MNT World Cup in India

Athletico Athletic Trainers Tyler Harris and Barrett Jones recently had an amazing opportunity to join the U-17 Men’s National Soccer Team (MNT) on their journey to the World Cup in India. It was the culmination of two years of work with incredible young players and an amazing staff.

The Healing Process of an Ankle Fracture

As all NBA fans know, the first major injury of the 2017-2018 season occurred to star guard of the Boston Celtics, Gordon Hayward. Gordon suffered an ankle fracture 5 minutes and 15 seconds into the start of the season.

US Soccer: U-16 GNT Training Camp in Germany

As an Athletico Athletic Trainer, I recently had the opportunity to travel with U.S. Soccer’s U-16 Girls National Team (GNT) to Wildeshausen, Germany for a training camp. The camp had two scheduled friendly matches against Germany on September 12th and 14th. This camp was a great opportunity for the team to play together as well as compete against a top International team.
