Atrial Fibrillation
I came to Athletico Physical Therapy June 18, 2015, after a winter of unsuccessful thyroid replacement hormones. This resulted in a variety of visits to the hospital for congestive heart failure and a 100 pound water weight gain. Eventually, I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), an irregular, often rapid heart rate as well as sleep apnea, making it difficult to breathe.
As my quality of life returned, I was able to lose weight. Despite the pounds lost, my body was left in terrible shape. I began rehabilitation at Athletico’s Iowa City East location. On my first day, I could barely walk 15 feet without resting. Today, I continue to work hard with my at home exercises to maintain strength and wellness.
Joe and his team have helped me realize I can set goals, above and beyond the rehabilitation plan provided. Athletico’s encouragement and confidence pushed me to achievement and beyond. I am proud to be driving again and back to doing the things I love. I will never be able to thank Joe and his team for how much they have helped me!
