Fonsa Brody

Throughout my life, I have been a very active person who enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing, and various other creative activities. A few years ago, I started to lose the ability to hold a pen with my fingers. Managing a busy schedule, I ignored the inconvenience and sought alternate ways to cope. As years went by, things began to deteriorate further. I started dropping items from my hands due to a loose grip and became unable to participate in many of the activities I always enjoyed.

A visit to a neurosurgeon, who assessed my condition, directed me to Athletico for a month of occupational therapy (OT) before undergoing surgery. The patience and encouragement I received from my therapist, Claire, gave me the motivation to work hard. It was very challenging, but with her guidance, I committed to two sessions a week. After a few weeks, just before my scheduled neck surgery for fusion and disc replacement, I was able to bend my fingers and make a fist.

I resumed physical therapy after the initial recovery period from surgery. The personalized attention Claire provided boosted my confidence, encouraging me to strive towards regaining arm and hand strength. I am happy with the progress I have made and am hopeful about returning to my active lifestyle.

Thanks to Claire and the Athletico staff in Dallas.
