AthletiCo Physical Therapy Opens Facility in Winnetka

Posted on

AthletiCo Physical and Occupational Therapy will be opening its newest physical therapy facility in Winnetka.  Located just south of Tower Road at 852 Green Bay Road, the facility is close to the Edens Expressway, easily accessible via the Metra, and offers free parking.  AthletiCo Winnetka’s services include physical therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine, work rehabilitation, work conditioning, vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, orthotic fabrication, and performing arts rehabilitationTransportation services are also available for those patients who require transportation assistance.

With the opening of the Winnetka facility, the community will now have access to a rehabilitation provider that manages patient outcomes and satisfaction using a third-party outcomes system to manage and continuously improve quality.  What this means for patients and referring physicians is that outcome reports with measurable data on a patient’s progression will be available and discussed throughout the course of treatment.  In addition, patient satisfaction is measured at three different points during treatment in order to better understand and respond to patient needs while they are still receiving rehabilitation services, rather than after a patient is discharged.

Shannon Lubs, PT, DPT, will serve as the facility manager for the Winnetka facility.  Lubs, who received her doctorate of physical therapy from Northwestern University, has been with AthletiCo for three years, beginning her career at AthletiCo’s Evanston facility.  In addition to orthopedic rehabilitation, Lubs specializes in performing arts rehabilitation, vertigo and balance deficits, and orthotic fabrication.

As a former dancer skilled in ballet, pointe, modern, and jazz, Lubs sustained numerous foot and knee injuries while dancing competitively in high school and college.  When she became more interested in assessing and treating her injuries rather than dancing competitively, Lubs realized she wanted to become a physical therapist.

“I love the variety of people and injuries I get to work with everyday,” says Lubs.  “No two people present the same way, respond to the exact same treatment style, or have the same physical therapy goals.  This requires me to utilize problem solving skills and patient feedback to tailor treatment plans to each individual.  It makes my job interesting, challenging, and very rewarding.”
